A Brief Look at Corneal Abrasions and Erosions

Last updated 11 months ago

The cornea is the outer part of the eye that provides shape to the eye and protects the inner structures from damage due to bacteria and foreign bodies. When the cornea is damaged, it can cause great discomfort and altered vision, as the tissue is highly sensitive. The cornea can become scratched or worn from a variety of causes resulting in abrasion or erosion. Symptoms will arise including watery eyes, blurred vision, pain, and pressure in the eye. Visiting an eye doctor will allow you to explore all your options for restoring the corneal tissue so that your symptoms subside.

If you are having discomfort in one or both of your eyes, visit the expert eye surgeons at Newsom Eye. We can help you see clearly with a variety of the latest treatments available for corneal damage and related issues. Schedule a consultation on our website or at (813) 908-2020.
