Are You a Good Candidate for LASIK?

Last updated 8 months ago

LASIK is a type of laser eye surgery that involves reshaping the cornea in order to improve a person’s eyesight. Since many vision disorders are caused by imperfect corneas, LASIK offers a permanent solution and removes the need to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, LASIK surgery isn’t suitable for everyone.

A good candidate for LASIK is an individual 18 or older with relatively stable vision. The corneas of your eyes should also be free of scarring, which can interfere with the effectiveness of the surgery. There are also a number of conditions that can prevent LASIK from working effectively, including lupus, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

To learn more about LASIK surgery and whether it is the right option for you, contact Newsom Eye in Tampa. Our physicians offer a variety of surgical procedures to help enhance and restore eyesight. For more information, call us today at (888) 380-5289.
